Tradition Nine

AA, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.

I just cannot work up any caring at all about this right now.

  1. Lynda, I subscribe to your blog, first of all, thank you for all the insight you bring. I’m curious about your input on this. I am currently studying the Traditions with my sponsor. We just covered this and was wondering if you had any more input? I’m sorry that you may have issue with Tradition Nine and hope that this shall pass.
If God brings you to it, He’ll bring you through it!

    • Ha! Thank you so much for asking. That is awesome that you’re studying the traditions. I never have. I’ve been to a few tradition meetings, and honestly I got to those by accident. I’m just completely bored with the traditions.

When I take the time to read them, read about them, and consider them, I am awed by the way they evolved and still work so perfectly. I don’t really know “how it works” as far as the organization of AA goes, but really, it seems absolutely perfect to me.

So I’ve been reading the text and commenting on these one at a time, usually thinking of some small thing to say along with expressing my gratitude. After the horrible week I had, losing two pets in one week, I felt like I could finally try to get back to normal here, on the blog. I read the next tradition, this one, and while once again I’m awed and grateful that it works so very well, I just couldn’t think of anything to say about it, and then I decided I didn’t have to.

Honestly, I’ll be glad when I’m done with the traditions as topics. At the same time, I know that they and the minds behind them have literally saved my life.

  2. Sorry for your loss. I know one thing, of all the chaos I have caused in my life, the ones that never looked down upon me were my cats. Only now, being sober, can I really see what that chaos was. I would have ran off! Thankfully, I am making amends and reparations on a daily basis. What wonders AA has done for me. I am happy again!
